We were back in Lesotho again at Maliba Lodge after starting our new year there so happily. This time we went with a group of friends and enjoyed it as much.
So much so that we might all go back in winter and see what it looks like then - and test out all the fireplaces.
On our first day there I met a women also from Johannesburg wearing the most gorgeous shwe shwe top. It was such a lovely fresh modern cut for this traditional fabric. I just loved the pockets and the sequin detail on the yoke on the neck.
It got me all excited to try some interesting patterns with some of the fabric I have in my sewing box.
I did ask her name, by in the excitement of Maliba and swimming in the icy cold mountain streams I have forgotten it. If you are reading this post - please feel free to remind me of your name and I can add it to the title.

Hi Kat,
please send questions - love the topic and would be keen to hear more about it.
I once bought some shwe shwe and was carrying it in my bag when someone walked up to me becuase she could smell the distinctive smell. She told me for her it smells like Christmas - because when she was growing up her father working in Jozi and would come home at Christmas and every year he would bring them shwe shwe.
