I started typing this post last night, but could not quite remember the name of the lady in the red shwe shwe skirt. I kept thinking it was Eliza, but knew that was not entirely correct.
Last night before I drifted off, and lay in bed thinking of the school I had gone to visit in the morning (where this picture was taken). My friend Martine had organised for some of us to go to read to kids in a school with no library and leave some books, behind.
The kids were really well mannered and excited about the books.
I also thought about the joy on my neighbours face this evening when we presented him with his very own cello. His parents earn minimum wages as a security guard and a domestic worker, but are amazing parents. He got accepted to the local School of the Arts this year on his musical ability and has had to borrow a cello to practice. Several people in our community got together to raise the funds and the amazing music store in our area came to the party with a price that made us cry. Last night we presented this great kid with his cello and then there was more reason to cry ( happy tears,of course)
so as I was dozing off last night thinking about the day I figured out why I had trouble with the names. The lovely lady in the picture, who works at the school, and bought her red shwe shwe skirt with brown print trim is ELSA. ELYSIA is the name of the cello we gave to the rising star who was my first friend in this suburb, and introduced himself to us the day after we moved in, saying he was glad we had moved in across the road from him at age 5
